"We wrote this song as a thank you to those who have supported us over the past 25 years," he said in the statement, as reported by BBC News. "The song has since become a banner for our home state of New Jersey and the de facto theme song for our partnerships around the country to build homes and rebuild communities.
"Although we were not asked, we do not approve of their use of 'Home'."
While Bon Jovi may have overstated things a little (really, Jon, a banner for New Jersey?), he makes his point. It's a shame for Palin, too, because lots of Bon Jovi's songs could have been useful in getting her message out.
On capturing Osama bin Laden: "Wanted Dead or Alive;" on Tina Fey's brutal impersonations: "She Don't Know Me;" on her appeals to hockey moms everywhere: "I'll Be There For You."
Alas, there will be other rallies and other songs. But you can't blame her for trying -- with Springsteen siding for the other team, I'd go after Bon Jovi, too.
